Fitnessworx for Active After-school Communities Program

What is the Active After-school
Communities (AASC) program?

The AASC is a free Australian Government program, which has achieved outstanding results in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and the transition of primary school children into community sport and activities. Around 150,000 children take part in the program and are provided with a positive introduction to over 70 sports and 20 other structured physical activities.

Fitnessworx is a recognized organization with the Australian Sports Commission’s Active After-school Communities program. Fitnessworx programs are designed to engage traditionally non-active children in structured physical activities. SPORT is not for everyone – but physical activity needs to be a regular part of a child’s daily routine, to provide the foundation for a long, healthy life. Fitnessworx offer alternatives to sport-specific activity. Fitnessworx has a large number of registered deliverers instructing fun, inclusive Fitnessworx programs ranging from multi-skill to dance, circus to bootcamp, tabloid sports and much more as part of this government initiative. Fitnessworx service Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and other various locations.

If your school or OSHC is already involved in the AASC program and you would like to have Fitnessworx at your school – please contact us.

Fitnessworx – Building Community Pathways

Over the last 4 years Fitnessworx has grown rapidly, developing and delivering inclusive, non-sport specific activity programs for schools and children’s services. The need for PE sessions that offer alternatives to “sport” and encourage the traditionally inactive children to get involved has resulted in Fitnessworx working with more than 150 primary schools each week.

In working with so many schools for only a short period of time – whether that be a school incursion, an expo day or for a school term through the AASC program, we have been able to provide many kids with an excellent introduction to our activities, but this leaves lots of them wanting more! We are often asked by the kids and their parents, “Where can I go to do more of this outside of school?”

Fitnessworx have identified the need to provide these children with avenues for transitioning into activity beyond Fitnessworx and outside of school, to encourage life long participation in sport.

As Fitnessworx work predominantly with schools and children’s services we have now formed partnerships, aligning ourselves with like-minded, community based organizations. This means Fitnessworx can now direct children to our community based affiliates in areas where we don’t run our own community programs, encouraging them to pursue the activity we’ve introduced, outside of school. Fitnessworx selected organizations that offer programs of a similar style that also share the values of “fun” and “inclusiveness”.
